The founder of the Clan MacFarlane is said to have been Gilchrist, a younger brother of Malduin (third earl of Lennox) who gave his brother a grant of the lands of Arrochar on the shores of Loch Long. Although this grant is not dated, it bears a seal of King Alexander who reigned from 1225-1239. These lands continued to be in possession of the Clan for 600 years until the death of the last chief. |

is Michael Macfarlane FSA Scot.
and has been recognised by both the Court of the Lord Lyon
and by the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs
as being the only representative of the Clan MacFarlane!
The Society founded the Clan MacFarlane Trust Company to set up a conservation museum in Scotland, as well as a presentation of Clan MacFarlane's heritage and collection of artefacts, archaeological studies and pedigrees.
This museum will become the focal point of all MacFarlanes with these >Septs worldwide.
